Legend has it that giants once roamed the Mirna Valley, each building a small settlement atop a hill. This journey invites you to explore two of those enchanting places. Nestled among Istria’s rolling green landscapes, Grožnjan and Oprtalj feel like something out of a storybook. In the mid-20th century, Grožnjan faced heavy depopulation. To revive it, artists and musicians were invited to settle in the abandoned houses and turn them into studios.
Today, the village is home to dozens of workshops and hosts a lively summer music festival. Both
villages also reflect a rich cultural blend, with strong Italian influences.”
